Big Country Audubon
Collaborative Grant for Bird Blind

Big Country Audubon built and installed a Bird Blind with funds
they received through AFT's Collaborative Grant Program. The blind
was presented to Abilene State Park. Laura Packer accepts a certificate of appreciation from the park.

Laura Packer of BCAS says: "We are enjoying our blind, getting to see what birds are attracted to the feeders and water.  We’re still having a problem with the solar cell to recirculate water due to such dense shade.  I’ve contacted a solar cell company and am awaiting their advice.  In the meantime, several photographers have contacted me and are having some success with photographing the birds.  We even had a little Carolina Wren build a nest INSIDE the blind and they successfully incubated, fed, and fledged four young.  Visitors to our blind were absolutely thrilled to view the workings of nature up close and personal. "
